A contest has commemorated two important EU milestones in Romania.
The competition was organised to celebrate Europe Day 2017 and Romania’s 10th anniversary as a member of the EU. The idea was conceived by the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Administration.
The competition challenged university students to creatively express their own reflections on the EU’s contribution to the development of Romania and to a common European future. There were five categories: Performance and Visual Arts, Design and Architecture, Media and Audiovisual Communication, Cultural Heritage, and Software.
There was a winning project for each category. “Tradition” uses clothing to demonstrate the preservation of national customs alongside integration into European culture. “10 for a Clean and Healthy Romania” highlights how the EU has improved environmental protection. “Evolution” focuses on social progress through animation.
"Parks Built with European Funds" is a collage of pictures of EU funded parks. Lastly, the "#europe10" project is a website illustrating Romania's 10-year anniversary in the EU.
The competition was part of the "Europe in My Region" campaign, which is part of a national project funded by the ERDF through the Operational Programme for Technical Assistance for 2014-2020.
