Chemnitz: €32 million of EU funds to improve the transport infrastructure

Today, the European Commission approved a major project aiming at upgrading the transport system in Chemnitz and the surrounding region, worth about €42.8 million with €32 million coming from the European Regional Development Fund.  The EU will contribute to the purchase 8 hybrid rail vehicles that can run on both tram and railway tracks, to link the central and peripheral areas of Chemnitz.  More information: Press Release  EU-funded 'Major Projects' http://www.chemnit
