Summary
The project is addressing the objective of encouraging citizens to better understanding of the European Union, its history and diversity. Through its activities, the project will highlight an important episode in the history of Europe and the world, namely the influence of the Stalinist totalitarian regime on civil societies in communist countries of Central and Eastern Europe, and how applying the principle of social class struggle were ostracized many categories of citizens of cities that have named Stalin. The approach is innovative and interactive because emphasizes personal experience of Stalin towns citizens, on the facts of everyday life, "small stories" through which teens and young adults today (who didn’t lived dramas of time) can easily understand the consequences of totalitarian regimes on European values and well-being of European citizens. Therefore the project aims arousing public debate on how totalitarian regimes of Stalin deprived citizens of their fundamental rights and led to mass abuses and on the other hand, the project will challenge citizens of contemporary Europe to reflect on the causes that led to the establishment of the European Union and promoting peace by governments and citizens generations who lived dramas totalitarian regimes of the twentieth century in Europe. The project follows a logical thread: a large segment of older people have lived their youth when the city was called Stalin; their memories will be collected by youth and adults of our time and will be brought to light through the project; moreover, five representatives of each town will visit the other towns Stalin in the project and they will share their experience with local communities, discussing the similarities and differences, about then and now. The exhibition project will bring together all these experiences and telling the story of 6 towns.
