Title: European Cultural Heritage: Opportunities for citizens’ Engagement and Social inclusion
Summary
"ECHOES-European Cultural Heritage: Opportunities for citizens’ Engagement and Social Inclusion" aimed to build new "Community Cultural Systems", in order to create a reliable collaboration between the local authorities and CSOs that are working in the social and cultural sector. By working together, the disadvantaged groups (migrants, Roma, physically and mentally disabled people, NEETS, seniors, etc) have been socially included through the valorization of Cultural Heritage.ECHOES is a strong Network of 18 partners coming from 13 EU countries + Albania, Serbia, and Macedonia, all of them working in the social and cultural sectors. The partners attended a total of 6 international meetings (3 in-situ, 1 online, and 2 in hybrid format) and organized more than 30 several community activities.In order to start talking and designing the final outputs, an initial research on the impact the “2018 European Year of Cultural Heritage” had on each ECHOES community has been conducted, the results collected and shared among the partnership, in order. to have the state of the art where to start from.Later, citizens that were not usually involved in NGOs/private and, or public Institutions were engaged in the debate on the Future of Europe and its Social and Cultural Policies. The final ECHOES outputs count on 1/ “My Culture, My Europe, My Future – Tell Your Story" E-book designed with the purpose to give the disadvantaged citizens from every age, mainly childern and youth, the opportunity to have their say at the local and EU level about their vision of the Future of Europe from two points of view: Social Inclusion and Cultural Heritage; and 2/ the "Europe, Heritage, Startup!" contest, that helped to collect many start-up ideas, from which the best 3 were presented and concretized in real projects during the meeting in Munich, thanks to the support of some experts. These start-up initiatives brought new ideas on how a proper valorization of the Cultural Heritage could help in fighting social exclusion.Thanks to a structured work plan and an intensive communication and dissemination plan, the ECHOES project reached more than 50 000 indirect participants and 339 direct participants (less than expected, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which affected also this project in terms of physical and virtual mobilities realized).
