Summary
The twin towns Ribnica and Arcevia share serious efforts in the field of culture, especially art. Their activities are focused mainly on contemporary art practices and the two local environments: in Arcevia with the festival Ar[t]cevia, in Ribnica with a specific exhibition program. The heterogeneous nature of contemporary art and new challenges of culture in a time of global economic, identity and value crisis, is calling for more intensive international cooperation. AR project aims to encourage the exchange of good practices and establish closer cooperation in the field of the arts as an important element of sustainable development and one of the anchorages of a common European identity.The general objective is to develop intercultural dialogue on contemporary art and perspectives for its development and thus contribute to building a common European identity.The Specific objectives are:- to exchange good practices, opinions and plans for the future in the field of contemporary creativity as a tool for the creation of social cohesion on different social levels (municipal, professional, social);- to lay the foundations for further cooperation in the field of fine arts;- to encourage members of both local communities to become actively involved in the field of culture as an expression of active democratic citizenship and civic participation.3-day gathering (including 2 travel days), which will be held in Ribnica (Slovenia), includes the following activities: - guided tour around the RC and a presentation of activities;- guided tour around Ribnica;- roundtable on the challenges of working in the field of contemporary art, with the participation of artists and other cultural workers from Ribnica and Arcevia;- press conference;- formal meeting of municipality representatives on establishing contemporary art and culture;- exhibition opening “Ar[t]cevia & Ribnica“;- final informal gathering at a banquet.
