Title: Jobs of the future for EU heritage rejuvenation
Summary
Within Vinica Municipality there are 11 buildings that hold the status of a cultural property (with a further 10 which are currently being evaluated) and, amongst these sights, is the famous Opeka Arboretum. Unfortunately, most of the buildings mentioned are not operational due to their state of disrepair. One of the goals defined by the Vinica Municipality Development Plan relates to the need for restoration and reconstruction of cultural heritage monuments and restoration of their function in developing tourism and subsequently creating new values and revenues.Considering that here the percentage of unemployed young people is higher than the European average, the Project sought to gather experiences from municipalities and organisations from Croatia, Slovenia, Italy and Albania which have made heritage-based tourism one of their main economic activities and have identified how young people, thanks to their knowledge and their understanding of contemporary technologies, modern communications and media, can become involved in economic development on the basis of preservation and use of cultural heritage, the project has to raise awarness on EU heritage employment potential, contribute to youth engagement in EU heritage revitalisation and to empower youth with EU skills for proactive emplyment orientation conected to EU democratic participation mechanisms.
