Title: L’Italia e la deportazione degli ebrei nei territori occupati durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale: 1939-1945
Summary
The purpose of the project is stimulating a shared reflection on racial laws and the subsequent Jewish deportation in those countries under Italian occupation, during the Second World War. Due to the transnational nature of the project, the final consideration will be a tool to overcome the past, to foster reconciliation while creating a European collective memory.Historiographical research is the scientific methodology applied. Investigation will start from the most careful bibliography on these issues at both national and international level. There will be a consultation of general and specific works but also, of articles of the most important international journals which wrote on it. This work will be improved by the historiographical research into the single national units and archives.The dissemination plan foresees a series of workshops which will be held at partners’ institutions. These will be addressed at both scientific community and students. These seminars will make civil society of hosting countries more aware of European values of peaceful coexistence and tolerance. Moreover, these significantly contribute to scientific research on the above subject.Then, an international conference will be held at LUISS University in Rome. This will be attended by both Italian and foreign scholars and students interested in the topic. This event will introduce final remarks on the work of single units. The results of this meeting will be collected in a special book of papers translated in both Italian and English language.Afterward a photo- documentary exhibition will be set up in the former Ghetto of Rome on the Holocaust Memorial Day in January 2017. This exposition will be exposed also in the capitals the project partners. The catalogue of the event will be translated in both English and the language of participating countries. These activities will further support the inclusion of younger generations in the transnational culture of dialogue among peoples.
