Programme: Europe for Citizens
Identifier: 615755-CITIZ-1-2019-2-SK-CITIZ-TT
Title: #BFF
Summary
Main aims and results of the project:The implementation of the project was aimed at supporting the coexistence of nations in Central Europe. These are nations connected by both borders and a common history. At the same time, these nations are members of the EU. On this occasion, the task of the project was to remind citizens what it means to be in the EU, what means to call themselves a European citizen. Therefore, the project brought information about the EU, discussions on current European issues and also a memory of the historical events that brought democracy to all corners of Europe. The result has been a resurgence of interest in the EU. This was an important moment as Euroscepticism is growing in the countries of Central Europe. That is why reiterating the EU and its benefits for citizens was so important. The project strengthened the EU's presence in the partnership and supported the development of European citizenship. The project met the following goals:- A reminder of the importance of the EU in partnership and for citizens- Recognizing the essence of solidarity and volunteering as principles of European citizenship- Involving young people in European initiatives and developing European citizenship- Strengthening the partnership between municipalities and citizensTopics covered by project:The project has helped to bring European nations together as well as citizens to the EU. The project brought to the fore the knowledge of the values and current priorities of the EU. By that project has met the needs of knowledge of the EU from different perspectives. From the perspective of a global player, from the perspective of politics, from the perspective of integration. The project succeeded in highlighting the fact that the EU is beneficial to the citizens of its Member States. The topic of European citizenship has also come to the fore. It was a link between the EU and the citizens of the Member States. Part of the project was also learning about active volunteering - one of the essential elements of European citizenship. European citizenship was also present as part of the discussions on current topics. In this way, we have supported the activation of citizens. Thanks to the project, citizens were given the opportunity to participate in partnership, negotiations or discussions on current topics. This has encouraged the involvement of citizens. One of the forms is local involvement in the form of volunteering. Citizens have learned how volunteering works in the border area and how they can help themselves. Citizens' involvement, especially after the end of the project, is also expected within the EU, thanks to the increased interest in the EU. The project also brought engagement on an intercultural level. I.e., on the level of overcoming national prejudices, by involving citizens in the presentation of their national culture and, last but not least, by getting to know each other through culture. The project also covered topics that are currently resonating across the EU - the future of the EU, growing Euroscepticism, migration and minorities, solidarity.Participating countries and number of participants:A total of 4 countries were involved in the project - Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria. A total of 170 foreign guests and 400 domestic participants took part in the project. These represented direct participants in the project. However, the project also reached the general public through website and promotion - indirect target group. In our case, there are about another 12,000 citizens of four countries.
