Summary
The primary result pursued by the Townlab_MEET is the launch of the transitional cooperation processes aimed to stimulate the democratic and civil participation of European citizens, to boost the dialog and the social effort and to promote the fight against stigmatization of migrants, though consolidation of the network that is consisting of 9 organizations operating in 6 European nations: 6 municipalities (Chiesanuova and Quincinetto – Italy, Marnaz – France, Novo Mesto – Slovenia, Subotica – Serbia e Karditas – Greece), 2 universities (The University of Turin – Italy and The German University of Administrative Sciences Speyer – Germany) and 1 NGO (LDA Subotica - Serbia).An itinerant path of international meetings, that offered a total of over 100 hours of public events, through the adoption of interdisciplinary formats according to the interlocutors. The total number of direct and indirect participants was 911 and 18.000, respectively.The achieved results are: - The involving of more than 600 subjects in participatory planning processes (European citizens, stakeholders, asylum seekers and refugees) that had prepared 6 interactive activities of concertation (workshop, focus group and thematic tables), sample statistic investigations and structured Interviews- The experimentation of the telematic platform of participatory democracy (Living Lab), a multimedia environment programmed within an official web site and finalized to enhance the consultation of the meeting results, the exchange of best practices and the sharing of the ideas regarding integration processes and social inclusion- The initiation of awareness-raising courses on reception and immigration, through 12 seminar sessions in two ways (in person and video conferencing) during these intervened international representatives from the academic world, as well as institutions and associations- The offer of information-training activities having at the core the youth, organized in the form of 3 playful-didactic workshops of creative and performative thinking with European students and unaccompanied minors- The organization of the public events animated with the use of transversal communication approaches (dance of the community, performative arts, in-depth documentaries, musical production on the theme of the brotherhood between peoples) aiming to spread the message of inclusion and fostering the understanding of cultural diversity- The widespread sharing of information through different types of communication channels (newspapers, social network, radio broadcasters, video etc.)The concertation actions were preparatory to the shared definition of the Townlab_MEET position paper contents, a document of intent, divided into: - 3 sections (rights and duties – reception, integration and solidarity – social inclusion)- 9 thematic areas (health and health insurance, education, cooperation and networking, volunteering, reception, citizenship awareness, job placement, promotion of intercultural events and role of associations)- 17 actions and operational measures- 10 replicable models and good practicesThe Living Lab, the Position Paper and the information instruments (particularly the brochure and the after movie) represent the material and the immaterial heredity of Townlab_MEET, through which to start implementation processes in the medium term, to continue concertation actions and encourage the expansion of the international network. The capitalization of a specific segment of the position paper took place by the initiative “Social gardening care-giver and community narratives. Social territory and inclusion" (the announcement of the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation), an application co-designed by an Italian component of the partnership.
