Title: Growing Resilient Engagement Activities Together
Summary
The GREAT Project was born from the willingness of Gżira and the partners involved to create a good environment for the sharing of opinions on EU based issues. The Countries involved - Malta, Cyprus, Poland, Italy, Lithuania, Greece - brought their experiences in what concerns the Climate Change problem, and the policies and volunteering activities related to this issue. The discussions were based on ecological and environmental policies, adopted from each different Country. Climate Change is a rising problem that produces multiple effects, from the immigration emergency to the depauperation of resources, that should be solved through cooperation and solidarity among European communities. GREAT was an occasion to select potential solution to this crucial phenomenon and to strengthen the bonds among the participant Countries. The activities provided by Gżira municipality reached integrated results, based on the cooperation strategies that were implemented during the project. The priorities of GREAT were: finding solutions for the pollution problem, encouraging the intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding on the proposed topics, foster a reflection on solidarity in times of crisis and increase the exchanging of best practices.The target was represented from young volunteers, organisations, students, stakeholders, and citizens from the involved municipalities. The Project objectives were:-To make European citizens aware of their roles as citizens and to set the adequate environment to share different opinions, raising the awareness of diversity in EU-To develop the understanding of the citizens regarding the Union policy making process, pursued through an analysis of the best practices adopted by the European Union-To enhance the awareness of the importance of the teamwork.During GREAT were organized the following activities:-Organizational workshops in each involved Municipality-International meeting in GZIRA from the 13th to the 19th of November 2021-Theoretical activities: workshops, seminars and conferences- Practical activities: role games, ICTs, storytelling-Cultural and theme-based visits-Dissemination at local and EU level.The Project achieved the following goals:-Analysis of the consequences of climate change in local communities -Confrontation of the best practices to solve the forementioned problems-Involvement of minorities for a better understanding of the phenomenon-Enhancement of volunteering activities -Promotion of solidarity and cooperation among the participants-Encouragement to proceed in intercultural exchanges.
