Programme: Europe for Citizens
Identifier: 624837-CITIZ-1-2020-1-ES-CITIZ-CIV
Title: Intercultural dialogue and civic participation against stigmatizatiom of migrants and refuguees.
Summary
The results obtained through the implementation of the FORUM project have exceeded initial expectations. 2091 participants (more than twice as much as initially planned) from France, Ireland, Italy, Belgium and Spain have been involved in the achievement of the project outcomes which have been reached through 62 activities: Conferences and intercultural debates; courses; discussion groups and webinars; the elaboration of a Policy Brief compiling recommendations to EU policies makers related to stigmatization of migrants and refugee; an Awareness Campaign carried out by volunteer groups; and several presentation of project results. All these activities, organised in the framework of the project, have ensured the proper achievement of the project’s objectives:- All project’s partners have hosted a high number of activities to foster intercultural dialogues, exchanging cultural views between participants, analysing the migration and asylum EU policies and collecting proposals to advocate with European institutions.- Participants in the project have had the opportunity to build on their previous knowledge of EU policies and values, which has contributed to the development of an EU identity engaged with the Human Rights, Freedom, Gender Equality and Democracy. The project has strongly promoted the engagement of European citizens and encouraged them to improve their knowledge, skills and active participation, promoting volunteering and solidarity as a response to social challenges such as access to right for migrant women, inequality or the recent refugees and migration crises. - Civil society, local actors and organizations made up of, or engaged with, migrants and refugees have been strengthened. The project activities have complemented the work of the civil society organisations and additionally brought added value into their work by giving a focus into key major areas which are currently under their priority. All the project outputs, materials and results have been made available through the project activities and website (www.forumproject.eu) and disseminated through partners social media channels (facebook, instagram and twitter). Finally, we can say that the FORUM project has contributed to respond to a social challenge such as access to rights for migrants and refugees, especially women and girls, promoting civil participation, solidarity and commitment to Human Rights and EU values and conveying concrete proposals, from citizens to EU policy makers, in order to ensure a participative elaboration of the New EU Migration Pact and to improve all the EU policies that affect the daily life of migrant and refugee people in Europe. 8 European Parliament Committees (Women's rights and gender equality; Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs; Employment and Social Affairs; Culture and Education; Subcommittee on Human Rights; Environment, Public Health and Food Safety; Legal Affairs; and Petitions) 20 Members of the European Parliament, 7 Members of the European Commission, 2 Members of the Council of Europe and 14 European agencies and institutions have received the Policy brief “For an equal Europe for all: Migrants women rights are human rights”, elaborated in the frame of FORUM project and containing 76 demands and recommendations to policy makers and 6 infographics. As a measurable impact of this action we can point out that the Council of Europe has included a link to the document on its webpage on migrant women (https://www.coe.int/en/web/genderequality/migrant-and-refugee-women-and-girls#%7B%2263602265%22:[0]%7D).
