Programme: Europe for Citizens
Identifier: 564710-CITIZ-1-2015-1-AT-CITIZ-CIV
Title: Europe 2038 - Voice of the youth
Summary
What will Europe look like in 2038? What visions do young citizens of today have for a future Europe? What are their answers for today’s major societal challenges like ageing, financial crisis, clean energy, mobility/migration, freedom and security? Which measures do young citizens suggest to overcome terrorism and violence, inequalities and social exclusion, prejudice and discrimination? The present project seeks to answer these urgent questions and to find ways to create a common understanding of the European Union as well as to contribute to a common Union’s history.1) A diverse range of young European citizens aged 16 to 25 will participate in a pan-European survey, at least 250 people per participating country. The opinions of minority groups of young men and women, who face various forms of discrimination and marginalization in many European countries, are of particular interest.2) A pan-European declaration will be formulated including the perspectives of the young citizens, professionals and youth and education NGO's. The Declaration “Europe 2038” will be presented to EU representatives, including the President of the European Parliament. The nominated national delegation that will present the declaration to the EU Institutions will comprise of at least 1 youth, 1 multiplier and 1 researcher per participating country.3) At least 1 event per partner will be organized for professionals (teachers, youth and social workers), volunteers and NGO's working with youth simultaneously in several European countries. The goal is to empower and strengthen these multipliers to actively engage against violence, social exclusion, and discrimination. A diverse range of social media will be used to reach a large audience. All events will be communicated in national and international media to foster the social cohesion and future commitment of young citizens towards the European Union. Furthermore at least one national EU representative will be invited to each event.
