Let's debate together - Fidenza and Herrenberg citizens of Europe
Summary
Fidenza has constantly developed its relationship with the twinned city Herrenberg through institutional activities (meetings of official delegations: administrators, civil servants, teachers…) and citizens’ meetings: school classes exchanges, sport and associations' exchanges. Town twinning has been a privileged chance to build a long lasting cooperation among different countries in Europe.This project is planned in 2015 and wil be an opportunity to debate on the future of Europe. It is based on a 3-days meeting in Fidenza between Fidenza and Herrenberg and aims at deepening further the discussion on the future of Europe, reflecting on what kind of Europe citizens want, stimulating new forms of civic participation whilst reinforcing those existing. The project involves different target groups: local government representatives, civil servants, students members of sport, cultural and social volunteering associations, town twinning committees, interested citizens.The activities are:- Conference "Learning from history - The concrete achievements of the European Union"- Presentation of Eu funding opportunities for citizens, associations and young people- Workshops with administrators to exchange best practices about themes like urban development, environment, citizens' participation...- Meetings and round tables in the volunteering association seats’- Sport matches between the sport associations’ of the cities, to promote the social value of sport both at local and at European level- Guided tours to the territory as a mean to experiment cultural diversity and to understand EU identity based on common values, history and culture. In the context of the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II, we will visit places related to the World War II
