Title: Solidarity in PRoGress
Summary
The project process involved no. 7 cities and no. 1 Association of cities through no. 8 international meetings in no. 6 EU countries and in no. 1 non-EU country. The international meetings made it possible to address the issue of cooperation and solidarity during the Covid-19 pandemic, as founding values of the EU, in the various territories/communities involved. In particular, each meeting focused on a different area affected by the pandemic, and through a conference open to all and a workshop among the partners, the experiences made were presented and analysed, highlighting their strengths and weaknesses, the best practices to be shared and also highlighting the EU's activities on the topic addressed.The areas covered were: • the activities of the civil protection and the coordination role of the cities; • the effect of the pandemic on the school system; • the importance of young volunteers for the solidarity activities carried out; • the role of volunteering in general during the pandemic; • solidarity activities in collaboration with the health system; • aid to families in need and vulnerable groups during the pandemic; • the value of cooperation in general.In each city, the structure of the international meeting was as follows: • a moment of sharing the project and its objectives with the Community, the role of the EU in the various topics covered and the experiences made during the emergency period; • a moment of study and analysis between the project partners of the experiences lived in dealing with the pandemic in the context covered by the meeting (i.e. civil protection, school, etc ...), identifying the strengths / weaknesses, the critical issues / opportunities, best practices and lessons learned, also for further future insights; • moments of mutual knowledge among the partners, such as territory, traditions, culture, etc. in order to consolidate relationships as a basis for future collaborations.The process carried out, which involved 452 direct participants and an estimated 100.000 indirect participants (especially with social channels), was highlighted and represented in the final documents: • the videos, the 3-minute emotional one and the complete 20-minute one, in which the most significant images of the international meetings were collected with testimonials and interviews with local administrators and stakeholders; • the final report, produced in 5 languages (English, French, German, Spanish and Italian) in collaboration with the partners;as well as on the SPRING project’s website (www.spring4eu.eu) where there are also these documents.
