In case you missed it...
In November 2023, we conducted an informative government-to-stakeholder Workshop on Standards Cooperation for Emerging Technologies. The hybrid session took place in Washington, D.C., and convened WG1 representatives from the European Commission (EC) and the U.S. Department of Commerce. With over 50 participants in-person and 150 online, 16 stakeholders from both sides of the Atlantic had the opportunity to give short statements on ongoing and potential transatlantic cooperation on standards for emerging technologies that could be addressed through TTC WG1.
In December 2023, the WG1 subgroup on Digital Identity published a Digital Identity Mapping Exercise Report followed by a call for comments and a webinar on Unpacking the Digital Identity Mapping Results in February 2024. The U.S. National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) and the EC hosted the information session to provide a forum for stakeholder feedback on the initial findings of the mapping exercise and discuss the road ahead.
Following the commitments made in the Joint Roadmap for Trustworthy AI and Risk Management, work continued on developing an updated list of shared terminologies and taxonomies of AI. A detailed consultation between experts from both sides of the Atlantic was held and the second edition will be published at the upcoming TTC Ministerial.
On the sidelines of the fifth EU-U.S. TTC Ministerial (TTC5), which took place in Washington, D.C., the EC and U.S. Government co-hosted a two-day stakeholder-to-stakeholder meeting under the Transatlantic Initiative for Sustainable Trade (TIST) agenda. Over 200 stakeholders from the EU and U.S. explored how to craft the transatlantic green marketplace. Across 10 different sessions and a workshop with social partners, representatives of business, labour and other parts of civil society debated how to foster EU-U.S. cooperation to support a transition towards a stronger, more sustainable and resilient transatlantic marketplace that would also promote good jobs.
