The Head Office Taxation proposal

Compliance with business taxation rules can be complex. And especially small and medium enterprises (SME) that are operating cross-border in the EU spend a substantial amount of their profit margins on tax compliance. The new Head Office Taxation proposal of the European Commission offers a regulation framework which aims to ease and simplify the burden on the SMEs.

Under the new Head Office Taxation (HOT) proposal, SMEs with permanent establishments in different EU Member States would be able to choose to interact with only one tax administration in one EU Member State – that of the Head Office – instead of having to comply with multiple tax systems.
