SMEs represent 99% of Europe's businesses. They are central to Europe's economic and social fabric, drive Europe's green and digital transitions and support our long-term prosperity. We talked to Luisa Maria Tivrisi, Policy Officer in the Directorate-General for Taxation and Customs Union at the European Commission to learn more about one of those proposals which would introduce ground-breaking new rules to reduce tax compliance barriers for SMEs, micro-businesses and start-ups who want to grow into other EU markets more easily.
