These toolkits empower consumers and food retailers to take actionable steps toward reducing food waste and adopting more sustainable practices. They compile innovative strategies and successful interventions from retailers and organisations in Belgium, Finland and Poland to inspire positive change in the food system.

For consumers, the toolkit provides simple, practical tips to make sustainable food choices, reduce waste, and integrate plant-based alternatives into everyday life. It highlights examples such as using apps to plan meals and reduce over-purchasing, understanding food labelling like 'best before' dates, and creative ideas for repurposing leftovers.

For food retailers, the toolkit offers insights into how they can support consumers in these efforts. This includes implementing strategies such as promoting ‘imperfect’ or surplus produce, collaborating with food-saving apps, providing discounts on soon-to-expire products, and offering guidance on sustainable shopping and food storage. Additionally, it explores the role of education and partnerships with schools and community groups to foster awareness and engagement around food waste prevention.

Together, these resources encourage collaboration between stakeholders to create a more sustainable and efficient food system, benefiting both people and the planet.
