European Week Against Cancer 2023: showcasing EU4Health supported cancer projects

date:  25/05/2023

On the occasion of the European Week Against Cancer, the Commission is raising awareness of EU4Health funded cancer projects, which contribute to the aims of Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan. Launched in 2021, the EU Cancer Plan is a political commitment to turn the tide on cancer and together with the EU Mission on Cancer, it is advancing on a number of fronts.

More than EUR 400 million worth of EU funding has been programmed to date for cancer related actions under the EU4Health programme. This includes over 100 million for the launch of 28 ambitious projects touching on all areas of the Plan – from prevention to early detection, from treatment to life after cancer.

At a webinar on 25 May 2023 at 14.00 CEST, the Commission will showcase a selection of these projects, which include efforts to encourage healthier, prevention-oriented behaviours, support oncology training and the use of digital healthcare solutions, improve the management of cancer screening data and facilitate networking and the sharing of expertise throughout Europe.

EU4Health is the fourth and largest of the EU health programmes, contributing to a healthier Europe by providing funding to national authorities, health organisations and other bodies through grants and public procurement.
