Call for External Experts for the SCHEER Working Group on the protection of animals used for scientific purposes published

The European Commission has published a Call for External Experts for the Scientific Committee on Health, Environmental and Emerging Risks (SCHEER) Working Group on the protection of animals used for scientific purposes.

Specific expertise in the following areas is needed, with research focus on welfare of animals kept in captivity for scientific purposes: Zebrafish (Dario rerio) and Passarine birds (Parus major and Cyanistes caeruleus).

Background

The European Commission has requested the Scientific Committee on Health, Environmental and Emerging Risks (SCHEER) to produce a Scientific Opinion on a target revision of Annexes III and IV of Directive 2010/63/EU on the protection of animals used for scientific purposes.

To conduct a comprehensive risk assessment of this matter as required by the mandate, the SCHEER has identified a need for external experts to participate in the relevant group that will work on this Opinion.
