This month, we're excited to bring you the latest news, events and insights as we continue our mission to enhance cross-border cooperation. 

It is with great enthusiasm that we present our 10 chosen Youth4Cooperation Cross-Border Ambassadors! Every week, we get to know each of them through videos and articles, showing their commitment to cross-border dialogue and promoting positive change. 

Don't miss our next events! Join us online on 27 June 2024 for our #19 Beyond Borders: Breakfast Debate, where we will address the barriers faced by cross-border commuters and discuss innovative solutions to improve mobility across EU borders.

Introducing our 10 #Youth4Cooperation Cross-Border Ambassadors!

We're thrilled to introduce you to our 10 passionate Youth4Cooperation Cross Border Ambassadors.

We have been impressed by the quality of their applications and their passion to actively shape EU cross-border cooperation. Working closely with the BFPN, they explore innovative solutions and address pressing challenges using their diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Bridging Gaps: EU Cohesion Policy 2014-2020 - Creating a better life for Europeans

The EU's Cohesion Policy has been instrumental in reducing economic and social disparities, promoting harmonious development across Europe.

From 2014 to 2020, 405 billion euros have been invested in European economies and societies through this policy, which focuses on employment, entrepreneurship, R&D, infrastructure, the environment and human capital. 

The publication ‘Bridging Gaps’ highlights the transformative impact of Cohesion Policy, presenting the main projects and results of this funding period. It emphasises the benefits brought by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Cohesion Fund (CF).

Higher education diplomas automatically recognized between the Benelux countries and the Baltic states from May 1!

As of May 1, 2024, higher education diplomas will be automatically recognised between the Benelux countries (Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg) and the Baltic States (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania).

This significant development simplifies the process for graduates seeking employment or  further education in these regions, enhancing mobility and cooperation.

Join the 19th Beyond Borders Breakfast Debate!

Join us online on 27 June 2024, from 10:00 to 11:00 CET, for our #19 Beyond Borders: Breakfast Debate.

This session will focus on overcoming mobility barriers faced by cross-border commuters. Experts, including representatives from the European Commission and other stakeholders, will discuss the challenges of accessing efficient public transport in cross-border regions. We will also showcase innovative solutions and good practices to improve connectivity and attract commuters to cross-border public transport options.

Reinforcing cross-border governance for development

Join us at the ‘’Reinforcing cross-border governance for development‘’ conference, co-organised by DG REGIO and the OECD.

This event, aimed at experts and professionals in cross-border cooperation, will be held in Brussels from 18 to 19 June 2024.

Stories of success

Spain and Portugal: A Network of Border Schools

Discover the Border Bilingual and Intercultural Schools Project (EBIF - Escuelas Bilingües e Interculturales de Frontera), a collaboration between Spain and Portugal promoting bilingual and intercultural education in border regions.

Supported by the Organización de Estados Iberoamericanos (OEI), the Ministry of Education of Portugal, and the Education Councils of Castilla y León, Extremadura and Andalusia in Spain, this project has grown to include 56 schools, 100+ teachers and around 1,500 students since its inception in 2018. It empowers teachers, creates multilingual resources and fosters community bonds.

Dive into the discussion on “Insights into primary and secondary cross-border education, which delved into the complexities of cross-border education for children. 

On Tuesday 23 May 2024, our experts discussed the administrative hurdles, language disparities and challenges faced by schools in border regions, as well as highlighting successful practices that promote school exchanges across borders. 

The session featured a video contribution from one of our Youth4Cooperation Cross Border Ambassadors, Syria Paoloni, as well as a video showcasing the ‘Babylingua’ collaborative project and the Kita Salut nursery.
