SYSPER : Automatic update of Belgian family allowances

Are you aware of the recent automatic updates to Belgian family allowances? You can check your details in SYSPER, understand the process, and learn about the upcoming phase of this automation.

date:  25/06/2024

Dear Madam,

Dear Sir,

Friday evening 14 June, you received a SYSPER email notification informing you that the amount of your Belgian family allowances was automatically updated.

This update is currently limited to the period from September 2023 for Flanders and from November 2023 for Brussels and Wallonia. You can see the outcome in SYSPER (under MENU > My File > Rights & Privileges > My individual rights (Annex VII)).

By clicking on the green button “Show history” and then on the name of your child, you will be able to see the new amount(s) of family allowances that will be deducted in your pension slip (under the code AEA). Please check if this amount corresponds to the payment made by the fund.

For your convenience we prepared an Overview of the amounts of Belgian family allowances indicating the amounts paid per region. In case you see a difference between the amounts in SYSPER and the ones paid by the fund (please check the official document provided by the fund and not the bank statement), we kindly ask you to contact us as indicated below. Please note that all regions make retroactive payments during the month following the indexation (for example: the indexation of May 2024 is paid in June 2024).

This update will be visible on your next pension statement. We prepared a document explaining it in more detail: “Understand your debt linked to allowances from other sources”.

In the coming months, PMO will begin to process previous indexations going back five years in the past.  In the future, PMO will update the amounts automatically in line with regional indexations as they occur.

You are reminded to inform PMO if there's been a change in your situation that impacts the amount you receive from the fund (for example, start or end of the payment, move from one region to another, a change applied by the fund from the old method to the new method (particular to the Brussels region).

You can find more detailed information on Staff Matters portal.

Please note that as always, PMO colleagues are available to reply to your questions and provide help. You can contact us via PMO helpdesk at +32 2911111 Mondays to Fridays from 9h30 to 12h30 or via Staff Contact.
