New Interfaces to Improve the Efficiency of JSIS

The Assmal2/JSIS Online team are progressing with projects to improve the interconnectivity of JSIS across the EU Member States.

date:  07/02/2023

2023 will bring many interesting prospects for JSIS affiliates.

One of the PMO’s flagship programmes this year is called the National Healthcare System (NHS) integration which aims at creating a connection between our JSIS IT system with medical reimbursement systems across different Member States. The first phase of this project focuses on building this connection with the Belgian national system for medical reimbursements called MyCareNet. Due to the ‘paperless’ approach with the digitalisation of receipts and medical files, having this electronic flow of communication between JSIS and national medical providers will prove instrumental.

What will this new connection do exactly? If you reside in Belgium and have JSIS primary coverage, you will know that you must enter your claim for medical expenses into JSIS Online or via PMO Mobile after you have settled the payment in order to receive a reimbursement. Through the NHS project, the connection that will be created between JSIS and MyCareNet will allow claims for medical reimbursement to be sent directly from the healthcare provider to JSIS in a completely automated flow. This means that JSIS beneficiaries in Belgium will no longer have to file a claim for reimbursement but will have it already completed on their behalf. Additionally, the fully digitalised process will make the processing of these claims by the JSIS Settlement Offices much more efficient.

In a similar sense, a new interface between hospitals in Belgium and Luxembourg has been created in an effort to continuously improve the efficiency of the JSIS. The interface will assist in reducing errors made in the processing of claims, increase the speed in which reimbursements are sent and will reduce the need of paper documents being sent between JSIS, the affiliate and the hospitals. We can see this feature already functioning with the Erasme hospital in Belgium, with St.Luc and Chirec soon to follow. The project will go into a pilot phase in Luxembourg with the Robert Schuman hospital, in which the same advantages will be created.
