Modern Developments To Improve Your Mission Experience

With new screens, automatic calculations, and greater insights into travel data, the MiPS tool continues to grow and modernize.

date:  22/11/2022

Automatic Calculations

MiPS offers the possibility to calculate missions automatically without the need for human intervention. This is known as the Fast Track Selection, and it has been adapted to allow a reduction in the pressure on the liquidators (20%) and to reduce the backlog. The functionality works by identifying the missions based on certain criteria that can be calculated without the need of a liquidator’s calculation. These are known as “simple missions”. It simultaneously identifies the missions that must go through a manual calculation for example missions for commissioners, missions combined with leave, missions with an advance, and missions with an overlap, among other types. This possibility came about following the analysis of a risk study which looked at the types of missions that must be calculated by a person and which categories of simple missions (which by definition are all the other types of missions without complex criteria) could be calculated by MiPS without the need of a liquidator’s involvement.

Improvements to the system

Three major developments are currently being tested by the team.

  1. This concerns firstly the complete revision of the travel agency invoicing module in order to allow a significant reduction in the processing of invoices by PMO5 that were incorrectly reconciled by MIPS.
  2. Secondly, a development is underway to process the invoicing of hotels booked through the travel agency and to automatically process this invoicing as for transport, Hotel Program & Opportunities.
  3. Finally, a new type of cost for transport charged by the travel agency will become available.

We are also waiting the arrival of the new Front Office of MIPS+, which has been tested and approved for production. MIPS+ is a complete overhaul of the ‘look and feel’ of the system when you enter the homepage with a more up-to-date layout like those that can be found on the market. On top of this, improvements to the user journey of the tool have been taken into account with the adaptation to some features of the encoding of mission orders to make the tool more user-friendly. This also includes an improvement to certain screens with the regrouping of different types of expenses so that the user can more intuitively complete their mission order.

Exciting things are definitely in the works!

Greening your travel

Conscious about your carbon footprint? Did you know that MiPS automatically calculates your CO2 emissions for each type of transport you register? This can be found in the GO GREEN tab in the mission order. Within this green vein, the last few months has seen an exponential increase in the demand for green data on missions taken.

Creating reports regarding this information provides crucial insights for our users and management to understand how we can better adjust the travelling habits of mission goers in order to make a more positive impact on the environment. This is why the MIPS and Business Intelligence (BI) teams have been collaborating to create useful reporting dashboards with the most relevant and recurring information about missions in order to provide greater visibility to the users.

More mission goers reimbursed

Alongside these many developments, the population being reimbursed by the PMO for missions continues to grow. Since January two new Agencies have been put into production, with four more forecasted until December, and six more in 2023.
