The Declaration has been developed within the framework of the Belgian presidency of the Council of the European Union and as a result of a co-creation process involving many European cities and urban stakeholders.

It sets out the political issues facing cities, outlining cities’ priorities and recommendations to the European institutions for the next EU mandate as well as recognising the existing building blocks of an ambitious European urban policy including New European Bauhaus.
