For 30 years a wide community has been working for the establishment of a new art centre in Gabrovo, the hometown of artist Christo. The project aims to address local and global social challenges through an artistic license, and cross-disciplinary sustainable and future-oriented solutions. It is also one of 20 projects selected at the call "Support to New European Bauhaus Local Initiatives" organised by DG Regio last year. All selected initiatives receive tailored support that includes needs assessment, support services (project development and planning, stakeholder engagement and technical advice) and support in developing an implementation roadmap.

Project representatives are organizing an introduction to the functions and programme of the Christo and Jeanne-Claude Center and a panel discussion that is an attempt to find a middle ground between what experienced architectural studios can do and what architectural schools can offer, providing space and time for informed expert, and intuitive contributions from a broad community. Architectural competitions can be a process rather than one-off events, and buildings can be repurposed and remodelled in an adaptive and inclusive way.
