The New European Bauhaus Festival 2024

From 9-13 April 2024, thousands of citizens and professionals from across the world came together to celebrate the second edition of the New European Bauhaus Festival.

Thanks to our community's passion, commitment and all the different perspectives brought to the debates, the NEB Festival was an enormous success!

Taking place both on site in Brussels and online, and via Satellite events across the world, the event served as a dynamic platform for dialogue and collaboration and brought together people from all strands of life to connect with 250 artists, exhibitors, speakers, and policymakers.

With participation by high-level speakers, including EC President von der Leyen, EU Commissioners Ivanova and Ferreira, and Belgian Prime Minister De Croo, this year’s Festival edition put a spotlight on the success story of the NEB since its launch three years ago. Through diverse formats including panel discussions, workshops, and artistic performances, the Festival highlighted the initiative's impact, from innovative sustainable materials in construction to eco-conscious fashion. Discussions also centred on future opportunities for the NEB, emphasising positive change for communities and the environment through innovative approaches to designing our living environment as well as research and innovation.

We warmly you to explore our website, where the Festival lives on. For those eager to revisit the dynamic and enlightening presentations and performances from the FORUM and FEST, all live sessions are available to rewatch.

Lastly, we would appreciate it if you could share your thoughts on Festival by completing a short survey. It should only take a few minutes of your time.

New European Bauhaus Prizes 2024 showcase sustainable, inclusive and beautiful projects all around Europe

The 20 winners of the New European Bauhaus Prizes 2024 were announced on 12 April during the New European Bauhaus Festival.

The New European Bauhaus Prizes reward outstanding projects and initiatives that combine sustainability, inclusion and aesthetics, demonstrating how the European Green Deal transition can practically enrich the lives of people and communities. The prizes are awarded in four categories and two strands: one for established projects (the “New European Bauhaus Champions”) and one for promising initiatives from younger applicants (the “New European Bauhaus Rising Stars”).

The 2024 edition, the fourth edition overall, included a special prize for reconstruction projects from Ukraine, awarded to two projects, as well as a strong focus on EU regions facing socio-economic constraints or green transition challenges.

The 20 awarded projects were selected from 49 finalists that embody the principles of the New European Bauhaus. They will receive a monetary prize of up to €30,000 and a communications package to help them further develop their projects or replicate them around Europe.

Winners and runners-up will be featured regularly on our social media accounts the following weeks. You can already discover “Concrete to Culture”, a winning project from Bulgaria on our LinkedIn and Instagram accounts.
