Evidence-informed policymaking (EIPM) has become more important than ever due to the ever-increasing complexity of economic, social and environmental challenges we are facing. The current policy challenges are characterised by a mixture of complexity, uncertainty and ambiguity. These challenges ultimately have an impact on citizens at the local and regional levels, which is why EIPM matters even more at those levels of governance. Moreover, in the current climate of populism, post-truth and fake news public scrutiny and the accountability of science are crucial aspects to enhance the democratic processes.

The project Science Meets Regions addressed these challenges mainly through the organisation of events, trainings, and pairing schemes between scientists and local policy makers. That resulted in adoption of a clearer and strategic focus on topics of relevance to regions and cities and filling in the gap in the EU instruments addressing evidence-informed policymaking.

Check out the event's agenda and if you are interested in attending, please register before 21 September 2023.
