Access City Award 2024: applications open

/

date:  17/07/2023

The 2024 Access City Award recognises cities that have done outstanding work to become more accessible for persons with disabilities. This year, the European Commission also intends to award a ‘New European Bauhaus’ special mention to a city whose work on accessibility is aligned with the values of the New European Bauhaus: sustainability, aesthetics, and inclusiveness.

The award is organised by the European Commission in partnership with the European Disability Forum. The winner and runners-up will receive a monetary prize:

✅ 1st place: EUR 150 000
✅ 2nd place: EUR 120 000
✅ 3rd place: EUR 80 000

Cities across the EU with over 50 000 inhabitants are eligible to apply. If a country has fewer than two cities with 50 000 inhabitants, two or more smaller towns with a combined population of 50 000 can apply.

A guidance note for applicants and the participation rules are available in all official EU languages on the Access City Award website. You can find examples of best practice by the 2023 winner and finalists in the Access City Award 2023 brochure

Applications must be made by completing and submitting an online application by 18 September 2023 (noon) at the latest.
