National stakeholder workshop to unlock Morocco’s export potential
The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Morocco, the Delegation of the European Union to the Kingdom of Morocco and the International Trade Centre (ITC) met in Rabat on 6 May to discuss the challenges that non-tariff measures present for both trade in goods and services.
The event, held in the framework of the "Trade and Investment Facilitation Mechanism" (TIFM II) project, followed up on analyses conducted through a survey of companies on non-tariff measures. Interviews were conducted with almost 700 Moroccan companies involved in international trade, of which around a hundred were official in the transport and logistics sector.
While virtually all trade takes place without customs duties, non-tariff measures still exist and are the target of the modernisation of trade policy between the EU and Morocco.
The thematic roundtables, conducted by Moroccan experts, focused on the simplification of national regulations and procedures and on the adaptation to changes in the requirements of international markets. Throughout the day, the close link between transport and trade in goods was highlighted.
