On Europe Day celebrations on 4 May, DG NEAR participated in informing citizens about the Commission's efforts to foster "a stronger and bolder Europe in the world". Interactive activities (games and quizzes) were in place to steer visitors' interest in the Commission's work on enlargement and in the Neighbourhood, and to enhance their knowledge about the assistance delivered to Ukraine in the context of Russia's war of aggression.

Regarding the Southern Neighbourhood, visitors interacted with the young members of the InTheirEyes community (formerly EU Goodwill Ambassadors) and EU Jeel Connectors who had travelled to Brussels for the occasion. They also learned more about EU-funded programmes targeting green transition in the region. Bilateral programmes on water and energy transition were presented together with one of the regional programmes (i.e. meetMED) currently implemented.
