OECD Sustainable Investment Days
On 7th November, the OECD within the Global OECD Sustainable Investment Days, in cooperation with DG NEAR and as part of the EU-OECD Investment Programme in the Mediterranean, organised a meeting on monitoring and evaluation (M&E) tools for Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs) in MENA. Participants discussed tools and approaches to better measure the impact of assisted investments, focusing on quality investments and sustainable development. Experiences were shared global practices, as well as from Latin America, Europe and MENA regions on how IPAs can enhance monitoring and evaluation tools to improve the value proposition of countries to attract more quality FDI. A key message is that M&E needs to be more central in the agenda of IPAs seeking to enhance the impact of investment.
Today, M&E tools are becoming more sophisticated, requiring new approaches and more resources. In addition, the meeting was an opportunity for participants to learn about the ANIMA Impact Rating Tool for MENA IPAs to promote targeted investments that are in line with national development strategies as well as international standards on social and environmental protection.
