Contribution to the IMF Middle East Regional Technical Assistance Centre

Representatives from IMF/METAC, METAC member countries, development partners (European Commission, France, Germany, Switzerland, as well as UNDP and UN women) and civil society organisations met at the Regional Conference (hybrid) held in Beirut on 7 June.

The IMF/METAC organised a (hybrid) Regional Conference on 7 June in Beirut consisting of 4 panels covering 1) Capacity Development needs, successes and challenges 2) Capacity Development Partnerships 3) Fiscal Transparency and 4) Gender and Economic Policymaking. Panel 3 involved collaboration between METAC, IBP, EU and the UNDP. The Conference gathered representatives from IMF/METAC, METAC member countries, development partners (European Commission, France, Germany, Switzerland, as well as UNDP and UN women) and civil society organisations. This was followed by the METAC Steering Committee on 8 June involving member countries and development partners as members of the SC, were discussions focussed on achievements made in FY2023 under the different workstreams and the indicative work plan with upcoming priorities for FY2024 including under the new work streams (government finance statistics, macro-economic policy frameworks, and tax policy) coming on board in Phase V.
