On 24 January 2023, the Policy Working Group of the EU-funded regional programme Mainstreaming Employment into Trade and Investment (METI)  concluded its third meeting in Amman, Jordan.

Chaired and hosted by the Secretary-General of the Economic and Social Council for Jordan , Dr. Metri Mdanat, it brought together 25 policy makers from relevant government ministries, representatives from the social partners and the EU Delegation, specialized national agencies, and civil society organisations.

The members of the working group discussed potential priority sectors for METI’s forthcoming value chain analysis and reached consensus to focus on “engineering products and services”. Following further analytical work, the working group will reconvene in a few weeks to identify the actual value chain.
