In the framework of the project: Mitigation Enabling Energy Transition in the Mediterranean region (meetMED), funded by the European Union, ADEME (Agence de la Transition Ecologique) and RCREEE (Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency) organised an online workshop on” Best Practices on NEEAP Monitoring and Evaluation Tools & Mechanisms” on December 15th, 2022.

National Energy Efficiency Action Plans (NEEAPs) are strategic national frameworks, helping countries apply Energy Efficiency goals. The NEEAPs promote energy markets’ transition towards decarbonisation and the dissemination of policies and innovative instruments for promoting energy efficiency.

The workshop aimed to exchange knowledge and best practices from NEEAP monitoring and evaluation tools and mechanisms and highlight challenges and opportunities in the region.

The event was part of the meetMED’s activity 2.4 “Support to policy/decision makers on Monitoring and Evaluation”, with a focus on the Building and the Appliances sectors, that seeks to implement a standard Regional Energy Observatory Database on energy efficiency indicators, to follow up on NEEAPs and national strategies’ implementation.

The project: Mitigation Enabling Energy Transition in the Mediterranean region (meetMED) is an EU-funded project, developed by the Mediterranean Association of the National Agencies for Energy Management (MEDENER) and the Regional Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE). MeetMED aims at strengthening the implementation of energy efficiency measures and improving countries’ energy mix focusing on the building and appliances’ sectors through a multiscale, multi-partner and inclusive approach at local and regional levels, fostering regional cooperation. MeetMED’s beneficiary countries are: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia.
