The event, organised in the framework of the EU-OECD Regional Programme on Investment in the Mediterranean, gathered 40 senior policy makers from various ministries and institutions. Thematic sessions were led by international experts on investment law and treaty, as well as by peer negotiators, who shared their knowledge of recent developments and reform options for drafting and experience in negotiating investment treaties. Negotiations simulations exercises were conducted along with thematic sessions covering the main substantial and procedural provisions of treaties.  The event also gave an opportunity for Algerian policymakers to learn about the recent experience of Egypt in reforming its Model Bilateral Investment Treaty.
