Countering terrorism and violent extremism: towards a human-rights coordinated approach in the Southern Mediterranean region

To support regional dynamics around the prevention and fight against radicalisation, violent extremism and terrorism, a regional conference “Countering terrorism and violent extremism: towards a human-rights coordinated approach”, was held on 22-23 June 2022 in Tunis.

The conference brought together 70 international experts, professionals and representatives of partner institutions from Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia. With special focus on repatriation, rehabilitation and reintegration of children, the conference promoted capacity building of professionals working on counterterrorism in the region in line with a human rights approach, including through the Council of Europe's programme for Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP).
