A new series of national workshops, dedicated to the preparation of criminal justice statistics on cybercrime and e-evidence, was launched within the CyberSouth project, on the 8th of February 2022, with the organisation of the workshop for Lebanon.

Focusing on the place of cybercrime and e-evidence statistics as part of the strategic approach to fight against cybercrime, the workshop covered topics like the role and benefits of statistics, actors involved and the mechanism for collection and types of statistical data.

Representatives of the Lebanese Ministry of Justice and of the Internal Security Forces actively engaged in the discussions and presented in detail their mechanism for collecting statistical data, followed by recommendations by the expert.

The development of a strategic national approach on cybercrime was supported by the CyberSouth project since 2019 and several dedicated events were organised, among which the national workshops on the preparation of cybercrime and e-evidence situation (annual) report and the development of a cybercrime reporting mechanism.

The CyberSouth project will continue to support the Lebanese authorities in their efforts in building different elements of the strategy/policy to fight cybercrime.
