EuroMed Justice: Belgium and Lebanon organised a workshop on criminal assets
A delegation of seven judges and prosecutors from Lebanon, one of the South Partner Countries (SPCs), met with representatives of the Belgian Federal Prosecutor’s Office, the Federal Police, the Central Organ for Seizure and Confiscation (OCSC) and the Financial Intelligence Processing Unit (CTIF).
The two countries shared their experience on inter-institutional cooperation and coordination between financial intelligence units, the central bodies for the management of seizures and law enforcement and judicial authorities and for a better international judicial cooperation.
The EMJ programme brings together the most relevant stakeholders to develop a sustainable cross-regional mechanism of judicial cooperation in criminal matters between EU Member States and the seven SPCs: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco and Palestine.
The workshop will further contribute to the overall objectives of EMJ by supporting the cross-Mediterranean judicial cooperation in criminal matters.
