This event aimed at contrasting debates and priorities in the Arab region with those in Europe.

Debriefing on the recent COP climate summit and assessing to which extent further bi-regional cooperation could be foreseen was the first goal of the policy dialogue.

It also allowed to specifically look into the matter of how to fight climate change while catering to development needs. It was an opportunity to discuss concretely how to support and finance the green transition of economies, while meeting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This event gathered officials from the European Union (EU) and from the League of Arab States (LAS). In addition, experts, scholars, civil society and international organisations from both regions contributed by providing inputs.

This was a timely moment to talk about climate change: COP26 took place only a few days ago and the Arab region will be hosting the next two COPs (next year in Egypt, the following year in the UAE).
