The MED MSMEs Programme organized on June 6, 2023, in close collaboration with the OECD, a Tabadool Dialogue on the evaluation of support policies for SMEs. The objective of the webinar was to take stock of this crucial issue, present the OECD framework that provides a methodology for the evaluation of SME policies, in line with the adoption by the OECD Committee on SMEs and Entrepreneurship in June 2022 of a set of recommendations among for the elaboration of impactful SME policies.

The OECD also presented the result of a meta-evaluation (synthesis of 50 evaluations) showing SME support policies that are “hard” (combining soft support and finance), selective (as opposed to cross-cutting) and macro (vs. micro) have better chance to exert impact.

In addition, the representative of MSMEDA shared with participants the Egyptian experience, while the managing partner of BDO Morocco called for a SBA for Africa.
