EU introduces Flight Emissions Label for more informed and sustainable travelling

The European Commission has adopted a Regulation putting in place a Flight Emissions Label (FEL) that offers a clear and trustworthy methodology for calculating flight emissions. Airlines operating flights within the EU or departing from the EU will be able to voluntarily join this label, which will be fully operational as of July 2025. By the beginning of next summer, passengers will have the option to view and compare the estimated greenhouse gas emissions from their flight, enabling them to make more informed purchasing decisions.

These also led to the decision not to grant Air Tanzania a Third Country Operator (TCO) authorisation.
