Invitation: EU Transport Day at COP28 on 6 December

From 30 November to 12 December 2023, the world will come together for the next round of climate negotiations at COP28 in Dubai. Alongside participating in the negotiations, the EU is also organising a programme of side events on the margins of the conference.

Over the course of the conference, the EU's pavilion will host 90+ sessions featuring over 450 speakers from around the world, with one goal: to discuss the most pressing issues related to the climate crisis.

A full day dedicated to transport

On Wednesday 6 December, transport will be on the agenda of the COP28, and the EU Pavilion will be all about transport too, with panels discussing the role and contribution of transport in fighting climate change at global level. The day will start with opening remarks by Maroš Šefčovič, the European Commission’s Executive Vice-President for the European Green Deal, Interinstitutional Relations, and Foresight.

Topics will range from the climate change resilience of transport infrastructure and the importance of alternative fuels for greening aviation and maritime transport, to the role of hydrogen and critical raw materials to bring down transport emissions. The panels will be moderated by high-level representatives from the European Commission, including Magda Kopczyńska, Director-General for Mobility and Transport, Herald Ruijters, acting Deputy Director-General and Director for Investment, Innovative & Sustainable Transport and Rosalinde van der Vlies, Director of the Clean Planet Directorate.

We hope you will be able to attend EU Transport Day, and evening reception. Register now to join us at the EU Pavilion at COP28 in Dubai or via the livestream – and follow #EUatCOP28 on social media.

Organising a transport event at COP28 too?

Let’s join forces to put transport in the spotlight! Let us know your plans, and we will help if we can. We can offer speakers for 4 and 5 December and would be happy to promote your events.
