A sustainable and resilient transport network bringing Europe closer together
The European Commission welcomes the final adoption of the Regulation underpinning the trans-European transport network (TEN-T) by the European Parliament and the Council. The revised Regulation significantly strengthens EU efforts to build a sustainable and resilient network as the backbone of the internal market. The Regulation includes strong incentives to promote more sustainable transport modes, advance digitalisation, and improve multimodality. It also addresses climate change challenges and military mobility on the TEN-T network.

EU transport five years on
The agenda for the 2019-2024 mandate was set when the European Green Deal was adopted in 2019. It tasked the EU with cutting transport emissions by 90% by 2050. Alongside a focus on sustainability, this mandate has also seen emphasis on digital technologies for greater efficiency, safety and convenience; solidarity with Ukraine; support for the EU’s transport sector as it recovered from COVID-19; and conditions for Europe’s travelling public and transport workers. Check out the Commission’s work to create a sustainable, smart, safe and resilient transport network!

A large survey by the European Alternative Fuels Observatory (EAFO) in 12 EU Member States found a positive attitude towards switching to battery-electric cars. Despite price being a hurdle, 57% of non-electric car drivers are considering purchasing an electric car in the future. This EAFO survey is one of the largest on consumer attitudes towards electromobility in the world. It surveyed both drivers of battery electric cars and drivers of conventional vehicles. Questions covered user behaviour and experience, attitudes and preferences as well as expectations for the future.
