The session, hosted as part of the 19th European Week of Regions and Cities, focused on the conditions for mainstreaming to happen by sharing first-hand experiences from BiodiverCities, an EU-Parliament funded project about greening cities with citizens.
What is BiodiverCities about? The BiodiverCities project aims to enhance civil society participation in local and urban decision-making to build a joint vision of a greener city of tomorrow. The project sits within the context of the EU Biodiversity Strategy, and specifically the Green City Accord. Together with 10 European cities, the BiodiverCities project is experimenting with participatory and innovative approaches to enhance biodiversity in urban areas. It is doing so by engaging citizens on the ground in co-creating visions around urban nature, monitoring and solutions to improve urban biodiversity.
