CityLabs Exploratory Research Activity

The Joint Research Centre is going to deploy between next October and April 2022 a new Exploratory Research Activity called:‘Space matters: How to develop a common methodology for CityLabs’.

date:  22/09/2021

Our JRC Unit B3 colleagues Giulia Testori, Silvia Iodice, and Patrizia Sulis will lead a new Exploratory Research Activity called ‘Space matters: How to develop a common methodology for CityLabs’.

A CityLab is a participatory workshop where the JRC works in direct contact with a specific European city to collectively gather qualitative and quantitative spatial data at fine granularity, discuss and spatialise the impacts of a specific urban policy, to offer scientific evidence and support for future policies. CityLabs can help local authorities to tackle a wide range of topics (resiliency, housing market, homelessness, mobility) in different cities.

Between October 2021 and April 2022, the activity will focus on developing a consolidated methodology for CityLabs. Once the methodology is finalised, selected cities and JRC will collaboratively map and share quantitative and qualitative spatial data.
