City Science Initiative plenary

On the 7 July 2021, the City Science Initiative (CSI) held its plenary meeting under the umbrella of the Community of Practice on CITIES. The event included discussions from representatives from Amsterdam, Hamburg, Paris, and Thessaloniki.

date:  20/07/2021

The recommendations from the ‘City Science for Urban Challenges’ report were re-validated, stressing to improve the relevance of EU research for city challenges, to improve uptake on local level, to strengthen data for fact-based policies, and to improve the cooperation between cities, universities and Commission.

CSI has been confirmed as a good platform for information exchange, sharing practices and addressing urban challenges around city science as a multidisciplinary issue, while being able to work in an agile way with smaller dedicated teams in larger frameworks. As such, CSI can  play a key role in the implementation of the Urban Observatory and setting of dedicated experiments (City-Labs).

If you wish to know more on the next steps of the CSI and if you would like to hear/look back at the recording of the meeting, please send an email to Silvia Iodice and/or Sjoerdje van Heerden.

Presentations and main conclusions from the event can be found in attachement.
