Invitation to the City Science Initiative plenary roundtable, Wednesday July 7 2021

Dear member of the Community of Practice on Cities,

date:  21/06/2021

We would like to invite you to the next City Science Initiative (CSI) plenary roundtable on Wednesday July 7 from 10:00 to 11:30 hrs to look back on the CSI pilot phase and to discuss the future of the CSI together.

From the start the City Science Initiative has functioned as a ‘third space’: an open and informal discussion platform between cities, academics, the services of the European Commission and different network organizations.

Last year, the ‘City Science for Urban Challenges’ report was published. The report, authored by Caroline Nevejan and with contributions from different CSI-cities, looks back on the pilot phase of the City Science Initiative and sets out different recommendations on how city science in Europe can be strengthened, and how the City Science Initiative should continue to function.

Your perspective and input on city science and the future of the CSI is essential in further determining the course for future cooperation. We would therefore like to invite each of you to present a short intervention during the roundtable, to allow us to reflect together on the following questions:

  • Which of the main challenges for city science, as identified in the report, do you recognize in your own city or organization?
  • Which recommendations from the report would you like to see implemented and why?

In addition to the roundtable on the future of the CSI, we want to give you the opportunity to stay updated on the latest developments on EU activities related to city science.

Please find the full agenda below.

You can use this link to follow the event.

We hope to see many of you on July 7th
