The European Commission, DG CONNECT Smart Mobility and Living team, together with our active partners for this journey Eurocities, Open and Agile Smart Cities (OASC), the European Network of Living Labs (ENOLL), the CEMR and the Committee of the Regions, organised a 2-hour session with the signatories to:

• Know each other, acknowledge why their organisation decided to sign and discuss their expectations;

• Discover the mapping of the commitments of the declaration against ongoing activities and existing assets (documents, guides, webinars …) for each of the five strands (financial, technical, legal, capacity building, monitoring & measuring). This mapping proved to be very helpful to participants as it includes many useful initiatives at EU level for them! Participants shared their local experiences and known results on these work strands.

This was a first (online) meeting with many European Commission services, all partners and around 30 cities (half of the signatories), which considering the crisis period of covid-19 was already a very well attended event!

After this first meeting, participants will start working in groups on the five work strands between plenary sessions. They can also propose concrete initiatives (events, studies, projects) that they intend to undertake to deliver on the commitments of the declaration. One of the partners’ organisations will take the initiative to call online meetings on each of the work strands, leading to concrete actions implementing the declaration.

Next plenary meeting will take place in June 2020.
