  • The work of TECHRISK is mentioned in the Commission Staff Working Document SWD(2023)338 final - Report on the implementation of the EU strategy on adaptation to climate change. This SWD accompanies the document "Report from the Commission to the European Parliament and the Council - EU Climate Action Progress Report 2023 {COM(2023) 653 final} - {SWD(2023) 339 final}. TECHRISK is mentioned in the context of its work related to climate change impacts on critical energy infrastructure and on defence infrastructure, capabilities and operations. The SWD also mentions the Joint Communication on the climate-security nexus which TECHRISK helped shape.
  • TECHRISK represented the JRC in an informal EU-NATO meeting on climate change, security and defence, organised by EEAS on 12 December in Brussels to discuss the NATO approach on this topic. TECHRISK was invited as part of its activities related to studying climate change impacts on defence and increasing the sector's associated resilience which is an action point in the Joint Communication on the climate-security nexus led by JRC and EDA. Future collaboration will be explored, e.g., under the NATO Climate Change and Security Centre of Excellence (CCASCOE) to be launched soon.
  • By invitation of the EU Institute for Security Studies (EUISS), on 12 September TECHRISK took part in a panel on climate change and military infrastructure at a seminar on climate change and defence organised by EUISS and the Spanish Presidency of the Council. The invitation to TECHRISK was issued following publication of the joint JRC-EDA study on impacts of climate change on defence-related critical energy infrastructure. With the first contacts made, future collaboration with EUISS will be explored.
